VQFF 2021 is just over two weeks away, and we are so excited to “see” you at our second ever virtual Festival! We have all yearned for someone or something over the pandemic; at Out On Screen, the past year has inspired us to dream up new ways to continue to connect with all of you in future years.
Every year we run a fundraising campaign during VQFF. This year, our goal is to raise $35,000 so that we can plan a hybrid model of VQFF for the future, featuring both in-person and online programming and events. With that goal in mind, we have a special message from a member of the Out On Screen community!
A member of our community, Kim Kinakin has put together a timely project that we want to share with you! Kim is making an appeal to raise $1000.00 by July 31 to match $1000.00 put up by himself and friends to bring the Vancouver Queer Film Festival to the big screens of highway billboards across BC in places like Kamloops, Kelowna, Prince George and Victoria.
If you would like to view Kim's full appeal, watch here.
These digital billboards will promote VQFF, and take up public space to let 2SLGBTQIA+ people across the province know that we are streaming everywhere in BC, and they are not alone.
To give to Kim’s billboard initiative, be sure to click“Add comment”, and write “billboards” when completing your donation form, as shown below.
Join our incredible community of contributors investing in a province wide future for VQFF. Thank you for your support, and see you at the Festival!
