Brandon Schmor (he/him/his) is a 25 year old self-taught queer pianist and vocalist from Vernon BC, who enjoys performing both covers, and his own original songs, spanning a wide range of musical genres including Blues, Jazz, Rock, Pop, Soul, Punk, Grunge, and even Ragtime Saloon Piano.
Around the age of 3, he began to pick out the notes from songs he had heard, on an old toy piano that was given to him. He continued to be fascinated with music, and pianos, eventually prompting his family to bring home a large antique upright piano for him to play on. Brandon finally gained the confidence to come out as gay to his family in 2017, and was fortunate to receive acceptance, and support. Brandon is also diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome, a high-functioning form of autism, does not read sheet music, and plays piano entirely by ear, and emotion.
QUSIC is a new LGBT2Q+ Artist Music Series, produced by Rebellious Unicorns Production Company Inc., in which all presenting artists must identify under the LGBT2Q+ spectrum. This innovative series celebrates the LGBTQ2+ community, which includes individuals who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and two-spirit as well as a range of other gender and sexual identities. QUSIC will feature solo performers, duos or group acts, provided that the headlining artist identifies as LGBT2Q+.
QUSIC supports the growth and development of the Canadian music industry, highlighting artists who identify as LGBT2Q+. The music series invests in Canadian talent and will help to grow awareness of LGBT2Q+ musical artists, and helping to put money in their pockets so that they may continue to create this essential art form.
